Google Sky
Google Earth has a new “Sky” feature allowing you to travel through space in your underwear at home. It’s pretty slick.
As earth-dwelling creatures, our view and understanding is often highly myopic. Instead of looking up and pondering, we look down and stress about daily minutia. Instead of wondering about what’s going on out there in the universe, we wonder what’s for dinner. Instead of contemplating how small we are, we boast about how great we are.
Staring into space changes all of that. You can’t help but feel insignificant when viewing the vastness of space—the small portion we can see from our planet, anyway. I’ve been using this new feature in Google Earth for only a few minutes, and I’m already in awe.
Just another testament to the fact that there are worlds without number…
