A child’s curiosity and natural desire to learn are like a tiny flame, easily extinguished unless it’s protected and given fuel. This book will help you as a parent both protect that flame of curiosity and supply it with the fuel necessary to make it burn bright throughout your child’s life. Let’s ignite our children’s natural love of learning!

Wally is Back
Looks like my boycott of Wal-Mart can come to a quasi-close.
In what may seem as an immediate response to AFA’s calls for a boycott during after-Thanksgiving sales, Wal-Mart has just issued the following release:
Wal-Mart will not make corporate contributions to support or oppose highly controversial issues unless they directly relate to our ability to serve our customers.
Wal-Mart does not have a position on same sex marriage and we do not give preference to gay or lesbian suppliers. Wal-Mart does have a strong commitment to diversity among our associates and against discrimination everywhere.
This is a nice result. I’m glad that people spoke out and were able to get Wal-Mart to change course. Now if only they’d stop using sweatshops in China, I could feel good about shopping there…

Their statement is so double-pandering. The first half appeases those who are against it all; the last sentence assures the gay rights activitsts that they do still matter. Lovely diplomatic doublespeak.
